I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

I don’t drink. Much, anyway. Mostly because of the house mop and my mother’s well-toned arms (from all that kimchi-making) attached to it while she’d wait at the door exactly at 11pm. If I was a minute past curfew I’d see whichever end of that mop that evening and mope in bed swearing never to drink again. OOPS! Did I say my mother hit me? I meant she locked me up in the basement sauna and fed me scraps. Anyhow, that’s my story on why even at 25 I get tipsy on nail varnish remover. So I admit I was a little scared for the evening with Perrier-Jouët – who, by the way, was the generous host of my trip to Tokyo – to celebrate the unveiling of cuvée Belle Epoque Florale Edition bottle in collaboration with florist Azuma Makoto. One other thing my mother & mop taught me was to always accept kindness with courtesy, so whenever my flute was filled with champagne, I took it in  with an Arigato – except of course this was a magical flute and therefore bottomless. Funny thing is though, that because the Perrier-Jouët brand champagne is so fine (yes ‘fine’, like woman you so fiiine) (no I wasn’t paid to say this) it created this rather belonging harmony with the food and the atmosphere (especially that dancing) that despite the numerous re-fills it was overall just a very merry time without a single dose of dizzy. And of course no drunk-texting mother saying I miss you and I’m coming home at single-digit hours, nya-nya.

I think I’m meant to say Drink Responsibly. (Or was it Drink Responsibility and Accountability?)

  4. Oh Shini…
You never fail to make me laugh!! :D

Kimchi-making toned arms. As strange as that may sound, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen lots of Korean moms with those kinds of arms. Where I live, I’m pretty much surrounded by Koreans so even though others may laugh at the idea of arms strengthened my kimchi-making, I nod my head in understanding.
Asian women are not to be messed with. You think they’re short and weak and whatnot but sweetie, you have no idea how wrong you are.
    A mop? Yikes!
Hit you? Why would your mother hit you? Silly silly….
    A basement sauna?? Niiice! I’m jelly :)

As for the whole drinking thing, I don’t drink. Underage drinking is bad. We don’t do bad things!
But getting tipsy on nail polish remover? I may be slightly guilty of that sometimes…or what about Sharpies? I have learned the hard way to not let certain people near Sharpies. What is this world coming too?

Oooh but you look so pretty and angelic and all sorts of scrumptiousness with that dress and the hairpiece. Your outfit makes you look like a fairy or something, which fits in with the idea of a magic flute. Speaking of that magic flute, was I the only one who thought of Mozart right away? If so, let’s just forget that I mentioned Mozart.

Anyways, have a lovely day and an amazing weekend.
    Stay cool and drink responsibly!
(Here, I feel the need to say “I don’t always talk about drinking but when I do, I make sure I ramble and mention classical music.” Sigh. My life is weird.)

  5. WAIT!

I forgot to mention your usage of the word “fine”.
I like it. I like it a lot.
    Very well done.
We (aka me but we sounds more serious and cool and respectable and stuffies) like the word fiiiiine (especially in the sentence “girl, you so fiiiiine” or any other variation).
A finger snap and head bob are also good.
    But that’s another story.

  22. I’m tempted to start making kimchi for the sole purpose of getting Shini’s-mom-like arms. Just putting that out there; you can choose to tell her that some random blogger on the interwebs is fighting jealousy of her fiiiine toning.

  26. Swoon, your dress, the food! You look so lovely.

I’m the complete same when it comes to anything vaguely alcoholic. Winnie and her big red face comes out to play – and inevitably at gatherings, so do the cameras so I actually like to stick to soft drinks! I thought I was bad until I met my friend who is also Korean…her whole body goes red! It’s definitely an Asian thing, as they say – it’s in our genes! Though, sometimes I like to beg to differ because they say that Asians spent time drinking tea rather than making beer….but all those different types of Rice wines are lethal, so what is that all about?

  27. You look stunning! Amazing photos!
