Lake’s – My Lake Hotel & Spa in Wörthersee, Austria; Thank you Kit for the outfit shots!
I guess the best thing about seeing a lake outside your window first thing when you wake up is the fact that it perfectly reminds the body of morning toilet, or was that the galleon of coffee from the previous night while blogging in the hotel restaurant? The truth is, the rooms were all booked up for the Lake’s Fashion Days and the reception couldn’t find us spare dongles for the Wifi in our rooms, so Kit and I had to resort to sitting next to the thumping music of the lounge, nursing the backlog beast by blogging (alliteration at its best). On hindsight the combination of the lake-view and wifi (or lack therof) was really what made the trip that much sweeter – for one I did not get up in the morning to the sound of waterfall that my laptop fan makes – in fact the only sound of water was from the waves gently slapping the pillars of the harbour. All I wanted to pack that day were some towels and a bathing suit for an afternoon dip. Alas, the laptop did secure its place in the towel bag in the end, I guess the nerd in me could not dismiss the glorious idea of using the machine outside the 1.5m cable radius and in the sun.
Thank you Natacha of Mango PR for taking care of us x
Oh my gosh, what a supremely gorgeous setting! Perfectly captured by you of course. :D And outdoor canopies…glamorous much? ;) You look stunningly elegant and feminine in your swimsuit as well! Friggin’ eh, I just love your blog to bits, haha.

B E A U T I F U L !
you take beautiful photos. those dresses are stunning!!
What a beautiful place to chillax and enjoy the view, one day Shini we MUST ban from bringing our laptops to our next trip.
Ummm one more thing, is that my head popped out in the pool?
HAhhahahaah yes that is your head haha
@Shini,
Hahahahaha you muppet you could at least use a magic rubber and rub that lump out, I look dead in the pool.
can I ask how you set your camera when photographing these beautiful pictures? If you have a Canon though.. you know that round thingy that says: “M, Av, Tv, P etc.” which one do you have on when photographing? I always have the tulip on.. don;t know why though.. makes the backround a little bit blurry?
Well settings should always always change with what you’re taking photos of – landscape would require a larger F point and depending on the light condition the ISO and shutterspeed settings would need to be set. I always use M, where you have control over all the features, but if you’re just starting out, I really suggest you to read up on basic DSLR photography, and possibly try photographing on Av (Aperture priority) mode. Av mode is the one where it makes most use of depth of field, which determines the blurriness. x
@Shini, thank shini! best answer yet:) I’ll try to look up some things.
@Shini, though if I use Av the pictures turn out blue.. is that normal?
That’s not normal haha you should check your Whitebalance http://goo.gl/9YsDw settings as well, if you’re on Tungsten when you’re shooting outside for example the photos will turn blue ;)
@Shini, thanks for letting me know that it’s not normal.. I was thinking I was the only one having this problem:p I’ve tried to look on how to actually change the setting to get the right white balance.. but everywhere they explain what white balance exactly is and examples on how it looks like.. I can’t find HOW to actually change it.. bummer. thanks for the advice though! really helped. now I at least know It’s not normal:p
What model Canon do you have? I might be able to help finding the button to change the whitebalance!
@Shini, aahh you’re too nice. It’s a really old one: EOS D30.. and I have a different lens on it aswell: canon zoom lens EF 28-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS .. 72mm
Here we go, page 64! http://goo.gl/KEoHv
28-135 f3.5-5.6 lens is definitely good for daily use, but it might not give as much bokeh (the blurriness) as a f1.4 or f2.8 might give!
Let me know how you get on!
@Shini, oh my goodness you’re seriously the best. *tries* ahh poop. I don’t know if it’s because I misread something or I am just not that bright?! it’s still blue! haha.. This might be really frustrating for someone who knows a lot about camera’s! I feel sooo not smart atm. I clicked the AFWB button tried to turn the dial, but nothing happens. lol! I’m so confused.
Thanks for everything shini! keep up the wonderful blog.
