Masha Ma debut show SS11 @ Vauxhall Fashion Scout
Masha Ma broke the ice at her debut show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout on Day 3, and it was just my cup of (ice) tea – sheer, asymmetric, geometric, sculptural, draping… An origami-fold skirt continued the story from last season, but the collection quickly graduated into a new concept with more fluidity and layering, yet carried through with Masha’s strength, clean cuts. Her inspiration comes from the industrial landscape of the New York meatpacking district, white and super sharp, as she tells Dazed.
I just had a crazy cool thought – imagine going to work wearing that teal sheer shirt outfit, exactly as is. I think now I’m starting to understand why Anna Dello Russo so insists on copying outfits straight off the runway. No, actually, I’m not starting to understand, why… alrighty, closing door to tangent. The show was a huge success – now that the ice is broken, let’s blend us some masha frappuccinos! (Corny much?)
