I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Coat – Mango. Trousers – Topshop. Shoes – Nike. Sweater – Zara. Bag – Chanel Resort ’14 (on loan, don’t be silly). Rings – Monica Vinader. Photos from help from Abi, thanks!

It’s borrowed, don’t ask. I’m flattered though, that anyone would assume I have enough speech & debate skills to convince my husband, to whom Tommy Hilfiger is couture and Tom Ford is the CEO of Ford – the car company – that spending three months’ rent on a bag (a transparent one at that) is reasonable. I can’t even convince him to shower when he’s Shrek-green. My usual tactic is throwing self down in the middle of the aisle/kitchen and crying hysterically but this only seems to work up to a certain price limit, it being £40 for sock yarn. Truth is, deep inside I don’t believe we (I say we, but I mean me) are not yet in a junction in life to warrant a brand spankin’ new Chanel boy bag. I’ve always seen luxury goods as sex: the right person, the right time. Admittedly, this blog did place me in a bit of a ho-bag tangent with some of the generous gifts, I still want to work towards a stage in life where I can afford a Chanel/Hermes/LV bag without disrupting priorities. So please forgive me if, for the time being, I can be a little cheeky and seize the opportunity when the press office allows me to borrow to ‘play with’. Play we did, generally by me wearing it under a big coat and treating it like a secret, walking around town like Aladdin stealing bread: sartorial equivalent to ‘bubble-wrap it and place in safe’.

Disclaimer – this is not a sponsored post, by any means, nor do I frequently borrow items from brands to feature in this blog. On rare occasion that I do borrow, it is enclosed so readers are fully aware.

  1. Omg! I need that bag :3

  2. Yummy yummy.

The bag is all sorts of gorgeous. It looks super fresh and modern paired with the sleek pinstripes and leather trousers (speaking of which, I REALLY need a pair in my life). I normally associate clear PVC bags with Hello Kitty and 13 year olds but when done a la Chanel it takes on a new sort of life indeed.

    Lovely as usual. xx

  3. I love your chanel boy, it’s different and chic

  4. £40 for sock yarn indeed. Kx

  5. It’s obvious I love the bag, but I also love your coat, Shini! Those pinstripes look so chique…

  6. I’m so happy you shared this with us! Not gonna lie, it’s a bit intimidating to see bloggers with all these chic new Chanel, LV, Burberry etc bags. Love that we are told little secrets like these :) x

  7. How lucky to be able to ‘play’ with Chanel goodies, I bet giving these little loans back is hard! I’m not sure I could ever constitute spending so much on a bag, it is stunning though :) x

  8. I’m laughing out loud! It seems that we are married to the same man!!!
    And I loooove this bag…

  9. honest and great writing!
I think non of us would criticize the fact that the bag is being borrowed, nor would ever feel offended by that. As i see, posts like this, with goreous style and amazing statement pieces, are just the ones that allow us to daydream about someday owning this pieces and being inspired by them…

  10. That must have been fun borrowing it. I don’t even know anyone who can afford a shiny new Chanel boy bag.
& your photos always remind me of the photos you see on korean websites where they’re selling korean fashion, or stationary or just showing a bunch of cute pictures because they’re pretty.
It’s probably because you’re Korean though. I like it.

  14. This bag is gorgeous, but it hurts a little to imagine three months rent in a small see through bag, so it´s a good thing it is borrowed!

  16. Nice that you’re so honest! I’m always slightly confuzzled as to how some bloggers can afford a consistent stream of new designer clothing, I never know if it’s borrowed or otherwise. I’m pretty sure that if I were earning megabucks, I’d be buying property.

  17. It’s beautiful, and I like the way you styled your outfit, but I’m just like you, I would never spend so much money on a bag (especially since my best friend, who owns one, told me that the chain broke 3 times!)

    SOMETHING REAL SERIOUS

  29. I think there’s nothing wrong with you borrowing this for a spin :p A bit of a road test I’d say. I do agree with the husband – three months rent is just a bit too much! :p That’s about half of what you’d spend on an engagement ring right?! And the fact that it’s so small AND transparent – boys just won’t get the concept!

  30. hhaha about your husband and i love your simile of luxury goods and sex

  35. Haha, I see! And here I thought you guys buy stuff like this all the time. Did you feel rather scared, though, wearing that purse out? Granted, you probably didn’t intentionally walk into a bad neighbourhood right after. But a transparent purse looks a lot like an invitation (or provocation) for pickpockets and thieves. So maybe, you’re husband’s right.

  36. @Bivi, I guess if you buy. Transparent boy bag, you always take the limo, or a taxi…. Cool though! Sooooo cool!

  37. It’s gorgeous, your lucky you even got to borrow one

Thanks so much for this post! Most readers nowadays realise that a lot of product is borrowed from brands but it’s great when a blogger can openly joke about it (and the financial side of real life!), instead of only constantly presenting the image of an unattainably lifestyle. Your honesty has always made your writing more compelling and hilarious.

I can’t imagine ever spending that much money on a bag without “feeling” it, even if technically you could afford it, there are more important things in life. I mean, it’s only fashion :P

    Gorgeous photos as always, Shini.

OK, I admit that when I saw the photo I was green with envy regardless you paid for it or were gifted by Chanel.

It’s a cute bag but not worth 3 months of rent. To be honest, I am a bit turned off by seeing the boy on every or every other blogger.

  51. I have ever never seen that kind of bag. Really such kind of bag like awesome one.And we can say that all stuff like clothing and accessories are cool even her style its killing me.

  52. that coat.

  53. OMG! I love your bag! Even if it is borrowed, I love resort collections. I have just got my first Chanel bag and guess what… it is the Boy! :)
    Have a lovely day!!
