I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Let’s skip the beating-around-the-bush thing I normally do in this blurb and get straight to the point, I love this place and would gladly get on a plane for a lunch here. The Gesseler brothers’ U Kucharzy (At the Cooks’) restaurant in Warsaw is perhaps my favourite in town, although yes, I don’t qualify to say things like ‘best in town‘ because the loser that I am don’t actually know all the things in town… But get this, at lunchtime during weekdays a traditional Polish three-course meal is £5, everyday a different menu. There’s an open kitchen, the atmosphere is wartime cafe-esque, and the waiter serves you at your own table from the food trolly. The house punch tastes like fruit from the tree growing in the back yard, and the staff are wonderful with a cherry on top. There’s an equally amazing London branch just around the corner from South Kensington, my little Poland corner when I miss Warsaw.

  7. I truly love the idea of an intimate restaurant setting. Being able to watch your food being made to a degree and smelling the delicious aroma really makes it feel like home and puts me at ease…making the meal that much better. With your Warsaw gem though, I can’t actually tell if my longing is from the restaurant concept or your well shot photos :)
