I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

I’ve been squirrelling around since the morning building another 2013 in review post, and at 6 o’clock, I’ve decided against publishing it. 2013 sure has been a tremendous year for me, filled with highs and lows of varying strengths. Quitting my full-time job to charge on with this blog was surely a high, although to be honest it was technically a corner I was driven into that thankfully happened to have a little door. Regardless, I don’t regret taking that leap of faith and it’s been a hell of a ride ever since. The eczema probably was, and still is, the lowest … a problem I’ve sworn to tackle in the new year. I’ve decided against publishing a comprehensive review because, last year I wished for less shoes, more family, less ‘me’, more ‘you’, but the highlights were specifically about more shoes, and much more ‘me’ (5kg more at this point, to be exact), than ‘you’. So I want to start a clean slate, let’s try again, shall we?

Wishing all my readers a great start to 2014. Looking forward to prattling on in the new year!

The new year isn’t about looking back, but looking forward to the coming experiences. You don’t need to do a year in review post, this was fine, because it’s about exactly where you are now. Also, what your objectives and ‘défi’ may be in the coming year. Life is about growing and learning. Let’s not look back this year! ;)

  4. Gorgeous photo lettering up there!
I just found you a week or two ago – love your writing voice. Congratulations on your career change in 2013, wishing you more successes in 2014.

  5. Happy new year Shini!! :)

  6. Eczema is the worst. I only recently discovered that mine is brought on by stress – I swear by Aveeno oat based creams if you haven’t tried them already.

Wishing you a happy 2014 xx

  15. So excited to see what the new year has in store. I won’t get overly mushy here but just want to end you buckets full of love and well wishes. Can’t wait to see you next month! xx

  16. But when a year is complete where you’ve learned from your mistakes and obstacles, that’s when it was a success. The fact that you realized what you disliked about 2013 is tremendous. To be honest, one of the main reasons I follow you (aside from your awesome dressing skills) is because you are true to yourself and us. You’re selfless and so open and don’t let the big named labels and designers take over your life. You appreciate the little things, so keep doing what you’re doing. We’re all enjoying it! x

  17. Happy new year may all your dreams come true this year ! x

  18. Wishing you and yours an incredible new year…

    Happy New Year,

I just stumbled upon your eczema issue and was wondering if you ever took care of that? Anyway, I’m not sure what products are reliable but I use First Aid by Sephora and it works wonders as regular face moisturizer but it is suppose to help w/ eczema or itchy skin in general. I discovered it when I had mild case of it on my face and it helped heal.

  25. Happy new year! I can’t wait to see what 2014 brings you

    xx Nicole

  26. Happy New Year, Shini dear!

Here’s hoping your mother’s not bugging you to push out a tiny human by the end of 2014… hahaha

So glad you were put in the corner (were you naughty?!) because I love this blog! Its pretty much one of my tops that I always read and ooo and ahh over the photos. Thank you for blogging and the best to you in twenty14!

  30. Happy new year, Shini! :)

  31. Happy New Year! I wanted to pass along a random tidbit about my own personal eczema battle… it seemed to only flare up in winter. A very sweet, friendly person I met on an airplane suggested that nearly every chronic health condition is probably due to wheat, and that it couldn’t hurt to try a gluten-free diet for a couple of weeks. I was better in just 2 days. Living in a hot climate, I only ever use my oven in winter, and it’s nearly always for baking, so it kind of makes a ton of sense. I can’t say it will work for everyone, but if you haven’t tried it yet… good luck with it. I’m rooting for you.

I know you mentioned eczema on an earlier post but saw in the picture that you didn’t have the first aide ultra repair cream. Have you tried it? My siblings and I all have eczema and I cured mine 100% using this. You can find it in Sephora in the States but I’m not sure if you could find it as easily. Good luck!! Speaking from experience I know how much it sucks..

  33. Gosh I definitely need to give it a try, just ordered one off Amazon! (I think you can tell how desperate I am to find the perfect moisturizer…)
Mine I think was severe and now in the process of going away, so it’s just severe dryness I need to control – hope it works, thank you for the recommendation!

  34. Happy New Year, Shini! The leap of faith was a great move.
5 kilos… Can we expect a little mini Shini soon?!???

  35. HAH you’re funny.
Hope you had a great star to 2014 – wishing a very happy new year Sabine! x

Happy Happy New Year, Shini xD

I am quite ecstatic to have more “you” !!!

    Hi Shini, Happy New Year!
Have you tried clotrimazole cream for the eczema? It may help. I had a bad case of it last year, all over my face and neck, it was simply the worst I’ve ever felt in my skin in my entire life. I started using the cream after about a month or two of it developing and it cleared up pretty quickly.

  38. Hey Sarah,
Ooh I for sure haven’t although reading a little about it looks like the cream is for fungal infections, which my type of eczema isn’t, apparently!
I’ve actually gone through most of the cycles I think, it’s now just SUPER dry! Thank you so much for the recommendations though, happy new year!

  39. Happy New Year, Shini!

Most of the time I’m a silent (but daily/weekly) reader of your blog, but now I can’t stay silent any longer… I want to say ‘thank you’ for being so different but at the same time so recognisable in this ‘blogosphere’. You take by far the best pictures, you write by far the best articles and you have by far the best humour among all the other bloggers out there.

I hope 2014 will be a good year for you! Or do I have to say ‘we’ now, as you want the new year to be less ‘you’? ;)

  40. HAPPY NOOO YEAR DOLL! Hopefully I’ll get to see your chops in 2014 eh eh!
Shame you didn’t post a round up,I’d have loved to see it (drop me a cheeky preview will ya?)
Best of luck with the excema, It don’t spoil your pretty face though i do hope you can heal it and help you feel better xxx
