I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Very unusual, this experience I had… Do I mean surreal? Sure, the collection was unexpectedly sizzling-haute and what was a loser like me doing at a Giles show in the first place, but still, bizarre. I can’t really put a finger on it; I guess partially it was  the fact that I had no idea what to expect, what with Giles’ previous season being so fun and colourful – the dark setting at the Royal Courts of Justice was puzzling at first. Also, all throughout the show my Canon refused to cooperate, so half the time I spent wrestling it and muttering Santa doesn’t visit naughty cameras threats… The most bizarre of all though, was going backstage after the show for an interview with Giles (that I chickened out from). It’s common knowledge that pre-show backstage is literally a feast to the eyes, but like all good shows expiring after the curtain’s fall, post-show backstage displayed a rather real side of fashion – the cold logistics of wrapping up the pieces and models stepping out of their ‘wings’.  I must say the experience was slightly unnerving, but it was a somewhat valuable reminder that the so called ‘fashion world’ is without doubt, built in the clouds.

Thank you Glacéau Vitamin Water and Exposure PR again for arranging the amazing front-row ticket & (albeit spooky) backstage pass!

by the way, i didn’t forget to write you the bespoken mail. again, it had something to do with time management: today is my guestblogger day at les mads (http://www.lesmads.de/) and i had some preparative work to do.

nice to know..you had a ‘spooky’..backstage pass…i’ve really always wondered what real fashion means…..plus..backstage .. photos..are usually more intriguing than the runways…;)

  12. The camera might have been striking but the results are ace (clear, sharp and with the slightly skewed angle we love you for)… & What’s this whole looser thing? Coquettish or have you been in exile too long? Aaanyway, vitamin water have done well to put you into the model nail smudging seat. xo

  16. I find the second dress really beautiful. The shape, the fabric and the pattern. I love that black “belt” , it totally accentuates the waist. really beautiful and elegant!

  17. The pictures turned out really well despite the trouble with your canon! :)

  18. Love your down to earth account of getting invited backstage after the show… that you didn’t write it as if, ‘oh yaaaaa darrrrrrrling. my good friend Giles and I kissed cheeks and caught up on the gossip.’

There is nothing more off putting than losing your excitement with being part of this crazy world of fashion. Trying to pretend it’s normal… acting like you deserve to be there. That is what is most charming about you Shini. You’re so authentic on your blog and in real life.

Anyyyyway. Giles show is so beautiful. LOVE the contrast of such dark elements and the milky shaded suit… such a stark contrast of images when you pair those images together. The leather corset… the cream suit… yahhhhh, let’s all be the type of women that wear those together. Schmexxxxy.

  24. Oh I am so glad you had front row tickets because these shots are so amazing! I totally agree with the other commenters on here, your way of writing about fashion week is so real and not at all written in an elitist kind of manner! Oh and Pah! what camera trouble are you even talking about? These are fab!

Oh and no one writes about how it is backstage after the show so I really liked the snippet you included there.
