I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Brunch spot: Ozone

Green SweaterCOS. Jeans – James Jeans. Bag – Kurt Geiger. Leather knot bracelet – COS. Gold coral ring – Michelle Oh. Watch – Sekonda. Slingback heels – Zara. Tartan shirt – Motel Rocks. Bar necklace – Kirsten Goss Urban Edge.

While the first half of my twenties can be illustrated with cheap pleather shoes of varying glue smells and £4 Covent Garden jacket potatoes, the second half is decidedly turning out to be a compulsive, obsessive hunt for the best weekend brunch spots in town – as if life depended on pancakes. That and deleting emails like it’s a sport. Life does depend on pancakes, what am I talking about. There’s also the worshiping of coffee – as if I know what ‘good’ coffee is meant to taste like. Apparently the more it tastes like Chinese herbal medicine the better, where you cringe at the sip but nod ferociously like you know what it means… although, in my book, vending machine coffee is pretty agreeable too so I guess anything with caffeine is a winner. Ozone in Shoreditch has been our latest sweetheart spot for weekends, dedicated mainly to roasting and brewing sustainable, artisan coffee but also does a mean eggs benedict. Plus, the open kitchen also means brunch usually becomes more of a bLunch after a few ‘can I have whatever he’s making’. Despite the name that sounds like a 90’s underground club, and the exterior that doesn’t promise much of an interior, it’s definitely one of those Londoner’s secrets that hide in plain sight.

  1. can’t live without my daily dose of porridge and I love that green!

  2. simply lovely!

  3. My peers frown upon my refusal to become a coffee-aficionado, but you’re smack on right – cringe-worthy somehow equates to “better”. I much prefer my caffeine-kick via the tea way.
Stunning photos as always, and that forrest green jumper is perfect.

  4. @Le Fanciulle, I agree! My mom cannot function without coffee in the morning. I vow to never be that person ! ;) occasionally I’ll have a café americano and the caffeine is killer.

  5. That eggs benedict looks divine! If only I were in London so I could try it out…

  6. Yes, my late twenties are quite devoid of cheap pleather shoes too. And I’m getting the delete email down to a fine art. I wonder, Is this growing up?

  7. Love this! I absolutely agree, I can’t tell what’s supposed to be “good coffee” either. The boyfriend is Italian and he doesn’t understand why I’m not absolutely titillated by his espresso he makes… dude, all I want is hot caffeine in a large cup with sugar. It’s not that I don’t like espresso, it’s just that there isn’t enough of it.

And yes, I consider wading through emails and deleting them a sport :)

  8. I started getting serious sweater envy for about 30 seconds before I realised I have a very similar one – same colour and style and everything… But anyway, this looks like a great little place, I love the hidden away ones. They always make me feel like I suddenly became impossibly hip and in-the-know, even if I actually only ever find out about them through my sister…

  9. Love the plaid shirt tie around!

  10. super chic!

  11. I should definitely try this place! The photos are beautiful and the food looks so good!

You’re so correct, life entirely depends on pancakes.

  24. I’m currently also on the weekend brunch hunt. Its so satisfying to find a gem of a place after a tough, slog of a work week where you can unwind, drink coffee, eat porridge, and like you said delete emails or allocate them to the hundreds of subfolders I seem to love setting up. I also like the green COS jumper you’re wearing in this post!

  25. i am realising the difference in my day to day activities now too, getting older isnt too bad if its means getting yummy brunch!
love the leopard print bag btw

  26. This outfit is fab.

of late, i have been considering moving your blog from my rss “style” folder, to “culinary/food” folder. hah. perhaps impeccable style comes as a side dish to mouth-watering food.

  28. The latter half of your twenties also brought in tons of blog offers and being sponsored to host these reviews, so I would say life is treating you well? ;)

  29. Hah I wish! None of the food content is sponsored unless there’s a clear legal disclaimer at the bottom! In fact this applies to all the posts ;)

  30. Love your bag! Photos are great like always!

  44. wow, i loved this so very much. made me heart sick for home #2!

  45. Love how the pop of red and plaid of the shirt goes with all the look :) Perfect!!

  46. LOL. As an avid coffee lover myself, I don’t think your interpretation of “good” coffee needs to taste like Chinese herbal medicine is right. There are copious amount of good coffees out there and how “good” it is depends on your preference ;)

  47. Simple but very nice!

  48. Love Ozone! I’ve only been for coffee but am glad to hear their brunch is just as tasty. I’ll be sure to check it out.
