The Mademoiselle C screening at the Mayfair hotel
Carine Roitfeld
Wearing: 18ct Gold Choker, 18ct Gold Earrings and Waterbead 18ct bracelet – Wright and Teague. Dress – Opening Ceremony. Shoes – Next (similar). Coat – Zara. Watch – Sekonda. Prep photos with help of my love Kristina of KrisAtomic at the Apartment.
As a web designer, I find it rather odd that the fashion industry – what with our life-or-death attitude towards façade and outer beauty – doesn’t boast more amazing website design. Most tick the right boxes – typography, graphic design, user experience, but not many seem to inspire (some of my favourites include Kate Spade Saturday, and Ermenegildo Zegna). I stumbled upon LoveGold a few weeks back and was positively tickled – in fact, if not to the point of peeing a little – over the design of the site. It’s effectively a library/collection of all things gold and the celebration of it, focused mainly on gold jewellery, sprinkled with subtle shopping suggestions and held together by stunningly edited stories (particularly loved this one of Du Juan). I’ve been hoping to work with them ever since.
Well, this is a quick little something we managed to organize and shoot over LFW – accented by a couple of handsome pieces from Wright & Teague – before the screening of the new Carine Roitfeld documentary (a Fabien Constant production), Mademoiselle C. Not yet too sure about what I feel about the film… it was inspiring to learn more of her personality and how driven she is by her passion for image-creation, this someone that I’ve only come to know through the gaps between the throng of streetstyle photographers during Paris Fashion Week. But all-in-all, it seemed to avoid a lot of the sensitive issues around Carine’s departure from Vogue Paris and later their rebuttal to the CR fashion book, things that I feel like, if included, would have made for a truly in-depth documentary. If anything there is a scene Karl Lagerfeld pushes around Carine’s grand daughter in a pram and that scene alone is gold.
Mademoiselle C is released in UK cinemas today, and the DVD/download will be available on September 28th (trailer).Collaborative post with LoveGold.

Must confess, I do not love LoveGold’s website. But I have a strong dislike for dark backgrounds which might be why I don’t love it. I do enjoy the others you mention, though :) I think pleasing designs are becoming more and more present and I like it.
