I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

My Vogues are getting better treatment since they started this More Dash Than Cash column – you know, that extra gentle shove when going on the shelf. ELLEs, on the other hand, are getting the crinkle-shove treatment nowadays. Here are some snippets from Vogue UK June 2009 (pages 93, 94) that I thought were interesting tips for DIY.

Think Big

Layer and twist three long necklaces to make one statement piece. Outsize earrings are back – make your own cluttered drops by attaching gems or paillette sequins to basic clip-ons.”

Stone age

Break up inexpensive gem-encrusted necklaces and created Balmain-style crystal epaulettes”

“Carry your clutch as jewellery; Adorn with clusters of pin badges and brooches.”

They even had a blazer customizing mini-tutorial by Erdem Moralioglu, I wish I had a scanner to go crazy on.

With Natalia Vodianova buck nude on the cover, I don’t even have to encourage anyone to go buy a copy – I’m sure your boyfriends will get them for you.

Oh man, I wish American Vogue would do this…it’s such a good idea.

  3. Oh no. not a new issue again! You made me buy last months issue as well! ;)
I don’t know how much it helps with more dash than cash, when I feel bad about even treating myself with a magasine I can’t afford! (you know, they charge almost 10 pounds for it here in norway?)

  4. i love that clutch idea but i don’t like the fact that it would leave all those holes in my bag

  5. Aah, I really want it, but it’s too expensive here and I have no money at all. Even my boyfriend is broke so I can’t use him!

thanks for sharing! will grab a copy of this issue if i see one here! <3

  7. American Vogue is such a waste of time. (Depose Anna Wintour!) The only Elle UK I have is one with Victoria Beckham on the cover circa 2005. I only saved it because there’s this crazy article in there where the writer recounts a coke-binge fueled weekend where she dropped over 500 pounds on drugs alone.

  8. Gah not another magazine to buy. Very party-led tips however, dunno maybe daytime bling might work.

Shame I just spent £9 on magazines. Bye bye bank balance.

  9. Can’t wait to try it!

  10. really love that first idea, though you’d have to get the lengths right

  11. man I need a subscription to foreign Vogues
    esp. UK and Paris :/

  12. this is much more sensible. i was flicking through a copy on a recent harpers bazaar and one of their ‘on a budget’ tips was instead of buying real gems, buy a $9000 prada costume jewelry necklace. WHA???????

  13. I love these pages, I think the magazines all need to be more creative now, I’m totally bored with many of them as I often have seen whats in them already, beeing a internet addict and all :)

    Have a great weekend!

    xx

  14. Thanks so much for sharing them, great inspiration indeed! I think I don’t have enough pins to adorn my clutch but still, it’s a great idea!

    Enjoy your weekend!

This issue was way better than usual. Normally I buy a Vogue to read on the train and I’m bored with it within 15 minutes but this one I’ve read about 5 times.

  16. Wonderful blog and simply perfect sense of style and aesthetics.
I’ll definitely read you avidly from now on!
